The art of staying in
Winter is the season for making the home feel good, and this winter, staying in is not the backup plan; it is the main event.
To celebrate the Bradfords Winter Sale, we have created three moodboards inspired by the art of staying in, each designed around a different kind of winter homebody.
Made for hearty family meals, long lunches and slow dinners with friends. It's warm, generous and relaxed, with pieces designed to make dining feel less formal and more inviting: timber dining tables paired with comfortable upholstered chairs, soft lighting, ceramic serving pieces, textured placemats, and sculptural vases and artwork that bring the whole room together.
That same warmth carries through the palette with walnut, oak, chocolate, olive, cream, stone and warm black. Rich and natural, it's cosy and layered without feeling heavy.
Calm, soft and refined, this look is built around pieces that make the room feel like a retreat: a beautifully upholstered bed, considered bedsides, layered bedding, a rug underfoot and warm bedside lighting, all working together to create a space that feels gentle, settled and easy to live in.
That balance is the whole point: luxurious, but never overdone, and it's a feeling carried through in the palette too — restful and warm, with chalky white, mushroom, stone, linen, taupe, soft clay and pale timber.
Designed for long winter evenings in front of the TV, this look starts with a sofa that gives the room weight and comfort, then builds out from there: a coffee table with room for books, candles, remotes and something warm in a mug, an occasional chair or ottoman for added flexibility, and lighting that keeps the mood soft once the overhead lights are off.
That same mood carries through the palette with charcoal, olive, chocolate, walnut, rust and ivory.
However you choose to stay in, winter is the time to make home feel softer, warmer and harder to leave.
