Heritage, comfort and a touch of sweetness

A cherished family recipe passed down through generations, made for slow, sweet moments on the sofa. Simple to prepare and perfect for sharing while you relax, unwind and enjoy time at home.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornflakes
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa
  • 125–150 g butter, melted
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Icing

  • 185 g icing sugar
  • 15 g melted butter
  • 1 dessertspoon cocoa

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 160°C
  2. In a large bowl, add the cornflakes, flour, cocoa, coconut, baking powder and sugar.
  3. Pour in the melted butter and mix well until everything is evenly combined.
  4. Press the mixture firmly into a lined or greased slice tin, smoothing the top.
  5. Bake for about 30 minutes until set.
  6. Remove from the oven and spread the icing over the slice while it is still warm.
  7. After about 20 minutes, cut into squares.
  8. Leave to cool completely before serving.
